Is this affiliated with the Goethe-Institut?

No. GoethePrep is an independent study tool. Exam formats are modelled on official Goethe-Zertifikat structures, but we are not endorsed by the Goethe-Institut.

Which levels does the app cover?

All six Goethe-Zertifikat levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. This site focuses on A1 — the beginner certificate for family reunification and everyday basics.

How much does the A1 exam cost and how long is it?

The Goethe-Zertifikat A1 exam takes approximately 65 minutes for the written part (Lesen, Hören, Schreiben) plus about 15 minutes for the speaking part (Sprechen). Costs vary by test centre.

How does the AI writing correction work?

In the Schreiben section, you write your answers freely in German. The app highlights grammar errors, suggests better vocabulary, and gives you a score estimate — so you improve with every attempt.

What score do I need to pass the real exam?

You need at least 60 out of 100 points overall to pass the Goethe-Zertifikat A1. Some modules also have minimum thresholds.

Is the app available on Android?

GoethePrep is currently available for iPhone and iPad only via the App Store. An Android version is not planned at this time.
